Six Hour Place

Here the photographs are taken in the tidal waters just within and outside of the creeks between the high and low water marks in North Norfolk. These are strange places; sometimes dark and foreboding, then, suddenly serene beyond imagination. It is these moments of other worldliness that are sought out here.

HCW has often described the experience of being on this coast as like standing at the centre of a vast vortex of time and place. Transitory as they are these ‘places’ convey a strong sense of the moment. There is little of permanence here but that may make the experience the stronger perhaps.

Six Hour Place refers to the average amount of time the tidal waters are exposed and covered with each tide.
