The applied work; pastel reliefs, watercolours and drawings, explore ways that the feelings of ‘being in landscape’ can be revealed through the simplest of gestures.
Sometimes I see these works as opposite to the photography; their abstraction versus the ‘literal total visual’ of the big camera.
Increasingly, they run together.
If I juxtapose a photograph and a drawing, relief, watercolour, I am interested by how they inform each other.
The real beside the imagined.
